The present study presents a survey bringing together the varied ways in which this archetype manifested itself in space-time, demonstrating the existence of records of its presence in the 8th century BC, going through the successive periods in history, entering the 21st century. Its presence has manifested itself all over the world, in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Reflections on the blindness-music relationship are proposed, starting from the perspective of disability studies and neuroscientific research. In the final part, different meanings of the words "blindness" and "vision" are explored, which allow elucidating the complexity of the "vision of the blind", a fundamental concept for understanding the recurrence of the blind poet-singer archetype. El ciego poeta-cantante corresponde a una figura recurrente en diferentes momentos de la historia humana y en las más diversas regiones del globo. El presente estudio presenta un relevamiento que reúne las variadas formas en que este arquetipo se manifestó en el espacio-tiempo, demostrando la existencia de registros de su presencia en el siglo VIII a.C. hasta el siglo XXI. Su presencia se ha manifestado prácticamente en cuatro continentes: Asia, Europa, África y América. Se reflexiona sobre la relación ceguera-música a partir de la perspectiva de los estudios de discapacidad y de la investigación neurocientífica. En la parte final se exploran diferentes significados de las palabras "ceguera" y "visión", que permiten dilucidar la complejidad de la "visión del ciego", concepto fundamental para comprender la recurrencia del arquetipo poeta-cantante ciego. O cego poeta-cantor corresponde a uma figura recorrente em diferentes momentos da história da humanidade e nas mais diversas regiões do globo. O presente estudo apresenta um levantamento reunindo as formas variadas nas quais esse arquétipo se manifestou no espaço-tempo, demonstrando a existência de registros de sua presença já no século VIII a.C. atravessando os períodos seguintes da história, adentrando o século XXI. Sua presença se manifestou praticamente nos quatro cantos do mundo, na Ásia, Europa, África e nas Américas. São propostas reflexões a respeito da relação cegueira-música, partindo-se da perspectiva dos disability studies e de pesquisas neurocientíficas. Na parte final, são exploradas diferentes significações dos vocábulos "cegueira" e "visão", que permitem elucidar a complexidade da "visão do cego", um conceito fundamental à compreensão da recorrência do arquétipo cego poeta-cantor.
