Thus, these study areas were established in the Faculty through important theoretical and political discussions. The article highlights moments of conflict and also determines four theoretical-political traditions to be considered: one neo-tomist and nationalist, one phenomenological and liberal, one metaphysical and corporative, and a fourth scientific and filo-communist. A contramano de buena parte de la historiografía sobre el tema, el objetivo de este artículo consiste en mostrar que, desde un punto de vista histórico, durante el período abordado las distintas tradiciones teóricas y filosóficas dentro de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires tuvieron, desde su propio programa y/o el de sus rivales teóricos, adscripciones políticas bastante directas. De modo que se trató de áreas de estudio que se establecieron en la Facultad a través de importantes discusiones en las que de distintas maneras se entrecruzaron inscripciones tanto teóricas como políticas. Con este objetivo, el artículo remarca algunos de esos momentos de conflicto y además determina cuatro tradiciones teórico-políticas a considerar: una tomista-nacionalista, otra fenomenológica-liberal, otra metafísica-organizacionista y una cuarta cientificista y filo-comunista.
