AIDS, a stigmatized sickness associated to the return of epidemy and the fear of contagion, is not lived individually but in the frame of collective experience. This paper seeks to account for everyday life of asymptomatic seropositive people living with HIV and the problems they must face, by means of an approach based on sociology of chronic diseases. This approach opens to discussion different aspects, like the importance of secrecy in the management of a stigmatized disease, tha reorganization of everyday life marked by uncertainty and the relations between individual biography and collective history. Al principio de la década del 80, la brutal aparición de una enfermedad viral produjo un estremecimiento en la medicina y la ciencia, que no disponían de conocimientos suficientes para ofrecer una terapéutica curativa. Las características de esta enfermedad generaron por lo tanto un contexto social muy particular. El sida, enfermedad estigmatizada asociada con el retorno de la epidemia y el miedo al contagio, no se vive individualmente sino en el marco de una experiencia colectiva. El objetivo de este artículo es dar cuenta de la vida cotidiana de las personas seropositivas por VIH y asintomáticas, así como de los problemas que tienen que enfrentar, a partir de la sociología de la enfermedad crónica. Este enfoque permite discutir y profundizar diferentes aspectos, tales como la importancia de guardar secreto en el manejo de una enfermedad estigmatizada, la reorganización de una vida cotidiana marcada por la incertidumbre y las relaciones entre biografía individual e historia colectiva.
