From an anthropological focus, we try to reconstruct the plot of the relationships among adolescents in a period of time and in a particular place. To find out what is going on in the relationship among pairs (students- adolescents) in public schools, let us think again about the school function, taking in mind the social transformations of the end of the century. This work was done in a public school of the city of Córdoba, Argentina, between the years 1996 and 1998, with the following of a group of students who were taking the before last to the last course of the medium level. Pensar las relaciones sociales en cualquier institución es siempre una tarea compleja, pero adquiere características particulares cuando se trata de una institución de existencia como la escuela, que interviene explícitamente en la formación de sujetos, en nuestro caso, de adolescentes - jóvenes. Este trabajo intenta dar cuenta de la intersección de ambas dimensiones en un tiempo de fuertes transformaciones sociales y de mutación individual de los sujetos objeto de estudio. A partir de un enfoque antropológico se busca reconstruir la trama de relaciones entre adolescentes en un tiempo y un espacio particular. Averiguar qué está sucediendo en las relaciones entre pares (alumnos - adolescentes) en la escuela pública, permite re-pensar la función de la escuela a la luz de las transformaciones sociales de fin de siglo. El trabajo fue realizado en una escuela pública de la ciudad de Córdoba, Argentina, entre los años 1996 y 1998, con el seguimiento de un grupo de alumnos que se encontraban transitando del penúltimo al último año del nivel medio.
