There's an exam of professional and context foundations oriented to consider how the recent educational processes were studied by the Argentinean and Latin American ethnography. Also it's considered the professional vulnerability of anthropologists in the educational field according with the institutional limitations as discipline; and the theoretical and methodological contributions that allows the ethnography of education to strength outside the university walls. En este artículo se ensaya la posibilidad de hacer antropología de la ciencia a partir del debate sobre la alteridad y la auto-referencia. Se trata de un estudio de la propia comunidad científica, la que se considera en relación con el contexto académico norteamericano de formación en antropología social, ámbito donde esta discusión tiene un espacio significativo. Se recorren algunos fundamentos profesionales y contextuales que permiten analizar cómo se han abordado los procesos educativos recientes desde la etnografía educativa argentina y latinoamericana. Asimismo se considera la vulnerabilidad profesional de los antropólogos en el campo educativo desde las limitaciones institucionales como disciplina, y aquellos aportes conceptuales y metodológicos que han permitido consolidar a la etnografía educativa fuera de las aulas universitarias.
