I refer in particular to the emergence of mapuche organizations and leaderships that, as has happened with other ethno-political movements in Latin America, have set to take control of local governments as a way to introduce social transformations. Within these transformations weemphasize one: the inversion in power relations. All this serves to show the relationship that exists between municipal electoral participation and the daily lives of local actors, as well as to think about political projects that are both alternative and significant. Este artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre uma totalidade de experiências e processos políticos que ocorrem em contextos locais interétnicos, principalmente na região de Araucania, província Mapuche, e que foram acontecendo com intensidade relativa e continuidade desde o retorno da democracia no Chile. Quero salientar, em particular, o surgimento de organizações mapuches e lideranças, como tem acontecido com outros movimentos étnico-políticos na América Latina, que propuseram a conquista de governos locais para tentar desde esse lugar introduzir transformações sociais. Dentro destas transformações devemos enfatizar o investimento nas relações de poder. Tudo isto serve para destacar a relação entre a participação eleitoral municipal e as cotidianidades dos atores locais, assim como para pensar projetos políticos que sejam tanto alternativos como significativos. Este artículo pretende reflexionar respecto de una suma de experiencias y procesos políticos ocurridos en contextos locales interétnicos, fundamentalmente en la Región de la Araucanía, territorio histórico mapuche, y que se vienen sucediendo con relativa intensidad y continuidad desde el retorno a la democracia en Chile. Me refiero, en concreto, al surgimiento de organizaciones y liderazgos mapuche que, tal cual ha sucedido con otros movimientos etnopolíticos en América Latina, se han propuesto la conquista de los gobiernos locales para intentar desde allí introducir transformaciones sociales. Dentro de estas transformaciones destacamos una: la inversión en las relaciones de poder. Todo esto sirve para evidenciar la relación existente entre participación electoral municipal y las cotidianeidades de los actores locales, así como para pensar en proyectos políticos que sean al mismo tiempo alternativos y significativos.
