This article seeks to analyze the agricultural production development in the National Territory of La Pampa, Argentina, between 1883 and 1940, emphazising the significance of specific forms of technical or empirical knowledge, carried out in the productive process. In this regard, we are particularly concerned with the relationship between agronomic engineers and farmers, so as to identify, on the one hand, the different engineers’s initiatives to spread agronomic knowledge among farmers; and, on the other hand, the active role of farmers, either in the dissemination of that knowledge, or in agricultural research in itself. In this way, we will not only challenge the postulates that portrayed the producer playing a mere passive role, but, at the same time, we will try to demonstrate that production and extension of agrarian know-how had a much more complex and fruitful background in La Pampa, that what could be thought beforehand. El presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el desarrollo de la producción agrícola en el Territorio Nacional de La Pampa durante el período 1883-1940, haciendo hincapié en la significación de ciertos saberes, ya sean técnicos o empíricos, a la hora de llevar adelante el proceso productivo. En este sentido, nos interesan particularmente las relaciones entre ingenieros agrónomos y agricultores, a fin de identificar, por un lado, las diferentes iniciativas de los primeros para poner en circulación saberes agronómicos, y por otro, el rol activo de los segundos tanto en el proceso de difusión como en la experimentación agrícola.
