An analysis of the profiles allowed us to identify differences between those sectors with evidence of human activity and a control profile, providing with a first quantitative approximation to the local microbotanical record. The presence of diagnostic phytoliths compatible with domesticated taxa indicates a possible circulation of these plants at the site. Variations in Poaceae and dicotyledon assemblages reflect pedological processes and environmental heterogeneity. For example, the dominance of Pooideae in the lower levels and the increase of Chloridoideae in the middle levels (anthropized profiles) allow us to suggest that there was an increase in seasonality or aridity, a phenomenon that may have been amplified by anthropogenic pressure. This work highlights the potential of phytolith analysis at La Costa 2 and lays the foundation for future studies with this scarcely explored proxy. Este estudio caracteriza las asociaciones fitolíticas de tres perfiles pedoestratigráficos del sitio La Costa 2 (Tafí del Valle, Tucumán) con el objetivo de explorar procesos antrópicos y naturales que afectaron las terrazas agrícolas durante el Holoceno tardío. El análisis de los perfiles permitió identificar diferencias entre sectores con evidencia de actividad humana y un perfil testigo, aportando una primera aproximación cuantitativa al registro microbotánico local. La presencia de fitolitos diagnósticos compatibles con taxones domesticados indica una posible circulación de estas plantas en el sitio. Las variaciones en las asociaciones de Poaceaey dicotiledóneas reflejan procesos pedológicos y heterogeneidad ambiental. Por ejemplo, el dominio de las Pooideae en los niveles inferiores y el aumento de las Chloridoideae en los niveles medios (perfiles antropizados) permiten inferir tentativamente, que el sitio experimentó un aumento de la estacionalidad o aridez, fenómeno que pudo ser amplificado por la presión antrópica. Este trabajo destaca el potencial del análisis fitolítico en La Costa 2 y sienta las bases para futuros estudios con este proxy escasamente explorado.
