In this paper, we analyze the ways of living of the families from the Puna, between the last decades of the nineteenth century and the first third of the twentieth century, from an archaeological perspective. We address the social practices of shepherds and weavers, studying the material evidence in a rural house located in the Puna de Atacama, province of Catamarca, Northwest Argentina. We suggest the ontological confluence to approach the local experience of living in the Puna and in a wider context, the State, considering especially the persistence of certain daily practices, intimately connected with Andean ontologies, that claim both the identity and ancestry of the Puna, of deep pre-Hispanic roots. We discuss how the local and foreign are reconfigured in the connection of that which is imposed, resisted, and chosen. Desde numerosas investigaciones en ciencias sociales se abordaron las diferentes respuestas ante el dominio colonial y moderno de las sociedades nativas en sus territorios ancestrales y pluriculturales. En este trabajo, nos centramos en las últimas décadas del siglo XIX y primer tercio del siglo XX donde analizamos desde un abordaje arqueológico, las formas de residir de las familias puneñas. Partiendo de los rastros materiales en una vivienda rural ubicada en la Puna de Atacama, actual provincia de Catamarca, Noroeste de Argentina, exponemos las prácticas sociales vinculadas “al habitar la Puna” por parte de familias de pastores y tejedoras. Proponemos abordar, desde una confluencia ontológica, la experiencia local situada en un contexto más amplio, el estatal, considerando la persistencia de prácticas cotidianas, íntimamente conectadas con las ontologías andinas, donde lo creado-criado reivindica tanto la identidad como la ancestralidad puneña, de profunda raigambre prehispánica. Discutimos como lo local y lo foráneo se reconfigura en relación con aquello impuesto, con aquello resistido y con aquello elegido.
