| Sumario: | The study of Fuente de la Mora settlement (Madrid, Spain) provides crucial insight into rural areas due to its characteristics. Therefore, we have proposed a revisited interpretation of this enclave based on its geographic location, its archaeological remains, and the traces of Islamization documented. Consequently, we can establish a new type of hierarchy in the Iberian Peninsula center and provide another perspective on rural archaeology and the concept of the peasantry. The settlement was studied using Landscape Archaeology and a detailed study of the materials found at the site, especially ceramics, during rescue excavations. Although the information on this settlement is scarce, the archaeological remains suggest that it could have been a hilltop settlement of some significance, involved in the territory administration of the Middle March during the first phase of the Emiral period of Al Andalus. |
