Although they are not the unique graphic characters that crossed this passage, interest in them lies in that they feature a characteristic type: the chanta. The two of them share certain idiosyncrasy and
mode of behavior representative of an urban popular classes fraction in Argentina. Reading of these cases is conducted from cultural history and allows to observe
how projection of a fictional character was articulated in its transmedial configuration. Finally, textual and situated analysis of both films unfolds some continuities
and transformations produced between 1949 and 1964 within the Argentine cultural industry. |
