Therefore, the water consumed to prepare the feed, to control the ambient humidity and for cleaning was quantified. Our results show that the main water consumption is related to the maintenance of insectary. We have established that the percentages of feeding moisture and ambient humidity are key factors for the development of this fly. The water consumption to produce 1 kg of BSF biomass was lower than the values reported in the literature for bovine, porcine or poultry production. Once the key parameters for BSF production are well defined, production schemes can be put together that reduce the pressure on the planet's resources as much as possible, achieving increasingly sustainable production. Rabossi, Alejandro Elena, Fernando 2025-05-12 En un sistema cerrado con regulación de fotoperiodo, temperatura y humedad ambiente se evaluó el consumo de agua durante toda la fase productiva de la mosca soldado negra (BSF) en el insectario de la Facultad de Agronomía, Universidad de Buenos Aires (FAUBA) y la performance del cultivo de BSF en tres sustratos orgánicos distintos. Por lo tanto, se cuantificó el agua consumida para preparar el alimento, para controlar la humedad ambiente y para la limpieza. Nuestros resultados muestran que el principal consumo de agua está relacionado en el mantenimiento del insectario. Hemos establecido que los porcentajes de humedad del alimento y la humedad ambiente son factores claves para el desarrollo de esta mosca. El consumo de agua para producir 1 Kg de biomasa de BSF fue inferior a los valores reportados en la bibliografía para la producción bovina, porcina o avícola.
