Sumario:When children go missing, their relatives immediately start looking for him. The reasons can be very different: runaway, stray, kidnap, or several crimes. However, the actions carried out by the authorities are usually delayed and the measures taken are inadequate and insufficient to find their whereabouts. As consequence, children and adolescents continue to disappear throughout the years and are unable to be reunited with their families due to the State?s inability to investigate what happened. This work is intended to inquire into International Human Rights Law to find an answer to the reality of those children and adolescents who disappear. From this perspective, I will seek to identify the States? obligations in these situations and the standards regarding investigation, identification and restitution, in order to have clear criteria when demanding compliance from the authorities
