Not only will we outline precise events in the history of Argentine film to comprehend how these types of films were created, but more importantly, we will show how the main reference points often stretch back beyond the origins, reaching into chronophotography and other pre-cinematographic tendencies. These links are used as formal instruments for the construction of a particular perspective on the present times. The importance of the following study hinges on the comprehension of contemporary film as a set of heterogeneous developments that are part of a tradition, and not a series of isolated and groundbreaking events. Cultural Theory tends to qualify this mode of film as "Hybrid cinema", but fails to question whether this category is adequate for these types of films; in this research, we will study whether the link between elements of fiction and documentary in contemporary film should be viewed as "Hybrid cinema" or if new categories are needed. Este proceso que parece novedoso no deja de anclarse en otros momentos históricos, generando una sospecha de la existencia de una tradición de este modo cinematográfico. No sólo podemos trazar ciertos acontecimientos dentro de la história del cine argentino que nos logren hacer entender cómo se genero este tipo de films, sino que muchas veces los puentes referenciales van mucho más allá de los orígenes, encontrando vínculos con la cronofotografía o distintas tendencias precinematográficas. Estos enlaces se utilizan como herramientas formales para construir una mirada particular sobre el presente. La importancia del siguiente estudio radica en lograr comprender el cine contemporáneo entendiéndolo como un conjunto de procesos heterogéneos que forman parte de una tradición y no como un momento aislado y rupturista.
