Likewise, the immunogenicity of the\nantivenom was evaluated. IgY-Technology could enable the production of effective and\naffordable antivenoms that meet the urgent needs of many countries where\nconventional manufacture is unable to provide enough availability of antivenoms. Tradicionalmente,\nestos medicamentos son producidos en equinos, sin embargo, una alternativa a esta\nproducción se basa en el uso de los anticuerpos de yema de huevo (Tecnología IgY)\ndebido a sus ventajas económicas, éticas y productivas. En esta tesis se produjo,\ncaracterizó y evaluó la eficacia de antivenenos basados en IgY contra el veneno de la\nserpiente Bothrops alternatus. Se evaluaron distintas variables para la inmunización de\ngallinas ponedoras y se determinó la curva de respuesta serológica mediante ELISA. Se\nprodujeron extractos de yema de huevo cuyo contenido de proteínas e IgY fue\nanalizado mediante Bradford, ELISA y HPLC-ESI-MS/MS. Los antivenenos fueron\ncapaces de reconocer y de neutralizar hasta 68,74 ?g de veneno/mg de antiveneno, así\ncomo también la actividad hemorrágica del veneno botrópico en un modelo murino.\nAsimismo, se evaluó la inmunogenicidad del antiveneno.
