Argentina, due to its extension and geographic characteristics, has a great diversity of climates. It is considered as a great source of biological resources linked to the search for new compounds. The objective of this work was to evaluate the antifungal activity of the methanolic extracts of: Parastrephia quadrangularis, Senna spectabilis var. spectabilis, Peltophorum dubium and Calycophyllum multiflorum, against four phytopathogenic fungi: Fusarium verticillioides and F. gramineraum and Aspergillus parasiticus and A. flavus, as well as knowing their mode of action and to carry out a preliminary phytochemical characterization. First, the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the methanolic extracts was determined. Then, with the active extracts (MIC<500 ?g/ml) several techniques were performed to demonstrate this activity and the mode of action. Finally, the active extracts were submitted to purification methods and then analyzed by HPLC-UV and MS/MS. For the results obtained, we would be facing active extracts whose activity is fungistatic and also, that the main compound present in the active samples of P. quadrangularis is p-coumaroyl-oxy-tremethone, in the case of S. spectabilis is anthraquinone Emodin, by ther other hand in reference to P. dubium, the majority presence of flavonoids, flavones and flavonols, are detected.
