These contributions imply in-depth work and at the same time an increase in disciplinary content. The thesis is framed in the area of Project knowledge and praxis under the format of construction thesis. Development of the topics discussed here, although applied to the field of Industrial Design, is nourished by established knowledge in disciplines related to design and sound, both from artistic and technical perspectives. Sound dimension is a concept created within this thesis. It refers to those attributes that generate sound in three-dimensional objects. Industrial Design teaching usually focuses on tactile and visual aspects. Other aspects related to smell, taste and sound appear relegated in a kind of perceptual undervaluation. The thesis consists of four parts: First part: conceptual definition and foundation. Second part: contributions towards including the sound dimension. Third part: implementation. Fourth part: prospects for the introduction of sound in Industrial Design. An overview of the expectations on the possible impact of the use of the tools elaborated here in the sound culture in Industrial Design is outlined.

Dichos aportes implican una profundización y a la vez una expansión del campo disciplinar. La tesis se enmarca en el área del Conocimiento y praxis proyectual bajo el formato de tesis de construcción. El desarrollo de los temas aquí abordados, si bien aplican al campo del Diseño Industrial, se alimentan de saberes establecidos en disciplinas afines al diseño y al sonido, tanto desde una perspectiva artística, como técnica. El concepto dimensión sonora constituye una construcción de la tesis para referirse a los atributos que componen la variable sonora en los objetos tridimensionales. La enseñanza en Diseño Industrial en el nivel de grado se concentra principalmente en los aspectos táctiles y visuales. Mientras que el resto de otras variables relacionadas con el olfato, el gusto y la audición aparecen relegadas en una suerte de subestimación perceptual. La tesis consta de cuatro partes: Primera parte: aclaraciones conceptuales y fundamentación. Segunda parte: aportes para la incorporación de la dimensión sonora. Tercera parte: puesta en práctica. Cuarta parte: prospectiva para el sonido en Diseño Industrial.
