Abstract: This work has as its primary objective to comment on recent developments in the field of Environmental Law pertaining to Water in the Argentine Republic. Over the last decade, there has been implementation of environmental regulation and judicial decisions of transcendental importance regarding the recognition of a human right of access to drinking water for health and hygiene. These advances have not only originated in the public sector, as significant results have been obtained in the area of water conservation and preservation through the participation of the citizenry and the active role of the relevant communities. By way of a brief review of the local outcomes that are most relevant and by comparing them with what is happening in other parts of the world, we shall attempt a reflection regarding the course that our Nation has taken in the fields of conservation and sustainable exploitation of our water resources. En la última década, se ha dictado normativa y se han emitido fallos judiciales de trascendental importancia en lo que hace al reconocimiento del derecho humano al acceso al agua potable y al saneamiento. Pero no solo los avances han provenido del sector público, sino que se han verificado singulares resultados en aras de la preservación de este vital recurso, generados a través de los fenómenos de la participación ciudadana y el rol activo de las comunidades involucradas.
