One month after surgery a reduction of the fractional shortening (P<0.05) has been observed. Sin corrección está asociada con alta mortalidad antes del año de vida. El cierre del conducto por medio de ligadura ha sido el método habitual de tratamiento en el Hospital Veterinario de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). Se evaluaron 88 casos en el Hospital Escuela; 67 fueron operados y se presentan los resultados de controles posquirúrgicos de 32 pacientes. En el control al mes de la cirugía se registró una disminución estadísticamente significativa (P<0,05) del acortamiento fraccional.
