Serum samples from 2418 animals were assessed for proteins by means of a refractometer (indirect indicator of immunity transference). 57,4% of animals resulted with ?good? immunity transfer (group A:?5,5 g/dl), 22,7% had a ?medium? transfer (group B: ? 5 g/dl and < 5,5 g/dl) and 19,8% had a ?poor? immunity transfer (group C: < 5 g/dl). Calves with ?poor? immunity transfer had 3,14 times more probabilities to die before 60 days old than animals with a ?good? colostrum. We did not notice that calves from primiparus cows or those born from a dystocic parturition had less inmunity transfer results. Ruiz, M.F. 2019 El ternero recién nacido depende de la inmunidad pasiva adquirida a través del consumo de calostro para hacer frente a los patógenos presentes en las crianzas. En el presente trabajo se propuso cuantificar la eficiencia de transferencia de inmunidad en terneros de 10 tambos comerciales de la provincia de Santa Fe y relacionar dicho resultado con la mortalidad. Se recibieron 2418 muestras de sangre de animales a los cuales se determinó por refractometría la concentración de proteínas séricas (indicador indirecto de transferencia de inmunidad). El 57,4% de los animales resultó con calostrado ?bueno? (Grupo A: ? 5,5 g/dl), el 22,7% tuvo calostrado ?medio? (Grupo B: ? 5g/dl y < 5,5 g/dl) y un 19,8% obtuvo calostrado ?malo? (Grupo C: <5 g/dl). Los terneros con calostrado ?malo? tuvieron 3,14 veces más probabilidades de morir antes de los 60 días de edad que los animales con calostrado ?bueno?.
