| Sumario: | In the first part of this paper (I-V), I cover the link between modernity, reason and critical thinking. In the second part (VI-IX), I analyze the role of university as a source of critical thinking within the complex contemporary civil society. I will argue two points: a) that the dialectics between history and reason inaugurated by modernity is a necessary condition for any serious critical thinking; b) that only the model of autonomy can promote a real link between university, civil society and critical thinking. |
