This type of teaching can hinder a good learning content by students, because of the type of thinking and ways of reasoning of adolescence. This article shows results of research in civics classes -in particular the treatment of the subject of the National Constitution- and concludes with some lines to rethink legal education in high school. Específicamente, se aborda el caso de la educación cívica en la escuela secundaria, en donde se examinan los modos particulares de expresión de estos rasgos: centralidad del texto normativo y escasa presencia de elementos conceptuales y contextuales. Esta modalidad de enseñanza puede obstaculizar un buen aprendizaje de los contenidos por parte de los estudiantes, en función del tipo de pensamiento y formas de razonamiento propios de la adolescencia.
