For that purpose, it reflects upon the origins and evolution of cooperatives, their underlying principles and the documents issued by international organizations such as the UN and the ILO as well as upon the treatment given to cooperatives by the organizations of regional economic integration. The conclusions point out the differences between cooperatives and commercial and State enterprises underlining the capacity of cooperatives for resilience to the economic crisis because they operate in the benefit of their members, who are, at the same time, the owners and the users of their services. Para ese propósito, trata acerca de los orígenes y la evolución de las cooperativas, sus principios rectores y los pronunciamientos de organismos internacionales como la ONU y la OIT como también el tratamiento dispensado por las organizaciones de integración regional. Las conclusiones destacan las diferencias entre las cooperativas y las empresas lucrativas y estatales afirmando su capacidad de resistir mejor a las crisis pues operan en beneficio de sus asociados, quienes son a la vez sus dueños y usuarios de sus servicios.
