The aim of this work is to analyze whether the circular economy is a reliable and plausible alternative to develop a new model that allows the promotion of a highly sustainable and respectful culture of the environment and the initiatives and legislations that received the principles of the circular economy the modification of an economic model in crisis. From this point of view, the present document is made up of three parts. The first identifies the main limitations of the current economic model, the second advances in specific theoretical-technical concepts and principles of the circular economy (advantages and disadvantages), and the third analyzes the legislations that received this new economy. Finally, it is concluded that there is a worldwide concern regarding environmental deterioration and the creation of a normative framework, both at national, regional and international levels to promote circularity.
