Furthermore, the weather, the socio-economic conditions and the presence of Biomphalaria tenagophila are favourable for the spreading of the disease.\nSchistosomiasis is controlled with chemotherapeutic methods, but these imply high costs and do not prevent reinfection.\nThe WHO prioritizes the use of plant-derived molluscicides for its control given their low cost and biodegradability.\nLemma, A. 1970 proved molluscicide attributes of Phytolacca dodecandra L'Herit upon Biomphalaria pfeifferi rueppellii (Dunker).\nMolluscicide effects of Phytolacca dioica L upon Biomphalaria tenagophila was unknown: therefore, such activity was investigated following Lemma 1970 and WHO 1961 for raw organs and decoctions, determining the LD50 y LD90 in different stages of the mollusc life cycle.\nIt has been determined that only decoctions of leaves, fruits and flowers have a molluscicide effect upon Biomphalaria tenagophila.
