Sumario:In Fontevecchia, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights ordered the Argentine State to set aside a civil sentence, as a measure of reparation. The Supreme Court of Justice of Argentina did not comply, arguing that the inter-American tribunal lacks jurisdiction to establish such a remedy. This commentary analyses how the Supreme Court employs the rules on interpretation of international treaties of the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties. Numerous problems are identified within the Supreme Court's argumentation, as well as a clear shift with regards to the position adopted in previous cases
