She concluded that social recognition and international projection of Library & Information Science in Argentina depend on the level reached by their scientific production and professional capacity to organize information systems that meet community expectations. La autora identifica y enumera los pilares que sustentan la investigación en Bibliotecología/Ciencia de la Información en los países más desarrollados, luego va analizando cada uno de esos parámetros tal como se dan en la Argentina para desembocar en un panorama desalentador, producto, en parte, de la historia de la disciplina en el país y, en parte, de un presente convulsionado y en crisis tanto desde el punto de vista político como económico.
