Sumario:In Chile, the common interpretation of the theater phenomenon according to what identity means, has created the beginning of a lot of reading, not only in theory, but also in theater critique, making a change on the articulation “theater - identity” into the most important interpretative mold in such reflection. This work interrogates the theoretical performance that such think would currently keep; it also examines the characteristics that the critique has taken, when tackling the history of Chilean theater, it has focused on its identity personality and finally it goes through the ideological and theoretical budgets of what such practice lays on.
