We examine presence in the work of the actor and its relationship to meaning in order to delimit a field of problematization of the inadequacy of interpretation as the sole path to access knowledge.With ideas of Michel Foucault and Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht as a starting point, we propose other research alternatives for performative practices El texto presenta algunas observaciones acerca del modo en el que los Estudios de la Presencia se circunscriben desde el punto de vista epistemológico. Se expone el contexto de la investigación académico-universitaria en el cual esa perspectiva se inserta y el modo autorreferencial de investigar las prácticas performativas. La presencia en el trabajo del performer y su relación con el significado es examinada para que se delimite un campo de problematización de la insuficiencia de la interpretación como modo único de acceso al conocimiento.
