The solidarity between the religious imaginary and reality allowed playwrights to highlight religious problems as well as social and political issues. Focus turned to questioning the nature of faith while exploring traditions and individual reactions against established rituals. Through a process of va-et-vient between epic and dramatic discourses, this particular dramatic writing tackles question of the human sciences, their grasp of reality and religion. It does not attempt to study religious truths, it only tries to show how truthful of these religious representations appear in the people’s shared imaginary. This imaginary field is brought up through the different themes and forms of the texts that give us a collection of religious representations and its relations with reality.   La presencia del imaginario religioso en la dramaturgia venezolana del siglo XX constituye un espacio de libertad dramatúrgica. La solidaridad del imaginario religioso con lo real permite develar problemáticas religiosas, pero también sociales y políticas. Se abordan, por ejemplo, asuntos relacionados con la naturaleza de la fé, las tradiciones y las revueltas sociales e individuales.
