Its ultimate objective is to position the city as capital of extreme sports, nationally and regionally, among young people. Seeking to transcend a merely symbolic vision of culture, this article addresses the relationships between “youth” and “urban” cultures, the market, and the cultural policies that the GCBA declares to propose. For this, I use a qualitative methodology based on the analysis of primary sources produced within the framework of my doctoral research, and of sources produced by GCBA agencies and media agencies, in triangulation with specialized scholarly literature. Desde el año 2009, el Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (GCBA) viene incorporando equipamiento de distintas dimensiones para el desarrollo de la práctica de skateboarding y produciendo espectáculos que combinan “deporte y cultura urbana”, con el objetivo final de posicionar a la ciudad como capital de los deportes extremos, a nivel nacional y regional, entre los jóvenes. Buscando trascender una visión meramente simbólica de la cultura, aquí abordaremos las relaciones entre culturas “juveniles” y “urbanas”, el mercado y las políticas culturales que el GCBA declara proponer. Para ello, articulo una metodología de tipo cualitativa, en base al análisis de fuentes primarias producidas en el marco de mi investigación doctoral, y de fuentes producidas por agencias del GCBA y agencias periodísticas, en triangulación con bibliografía académica especializada. Desde 2009, o Governo da Cidade de Buenos Aires (GCBA) incorpora equipamentos de diferentes dimensões para o desenvolvimento do skate e a produção de espetáculos que combinam “esporte e cultura urbana”, tendo como objetivo último posicionar a cidade como capital dos esportes radicais entre os jovens, tanto a nível nacional como regional. Buscando transcender uma visão meramente simbólica da cultura, abordaremos aqui as relações entre as culturas “jovem” e “urbana”, e o mercado e as políticas culturais que o GCBA declara propor.
