The scene, far from being an emotional reunion between the spouses, consists of a series of resignifications regarding what is expected of a man and a woman in Ancient Greece. We will focus on the study of the elements that support and subvert the role of Clytemnestra, in an attempt to understand the queen’s figure and her androgynous attributes, as well as the political implication of her actions.
