Until now, there are no publications that have studied in greater detail neither the staging of Excelsior in Argentina in 1883, nor its following versions. This first approach has two initial objectives: to account for the “model” version of the ballet –premiered at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 1881–  based on the analysis of documents and on the latest available academic research, and to use Excelsior as a starting point to approach the analysis of a historical period of Argentina: 1880-1916.
