In order to do so, I have analyzed first Dante's conception of language and his philosophical definition of sin. Having reviewed different thesis that he built up in early works, I perform a full analysis of the episode of Ulysses, trying to expose the philosophical and linguistic nature of his sin. At the conclusion, I focus on the orthodox resolution given by Dante to the general problem of sin.
