I depart from this to clarify that the miserable conditions of the voyagers’ material means are completely defeated by their musical and cultural background richness. The notion of diaspora –based on both João Pacheco de Oliveira and James Clifford– is used to understand the universe of Northeastern migrations, particularly toward São Paulo. Here the music and dance genre forró is shown to be the musical and cultural background of the voyager and the forró venues (casas de forró) as the nuclear point of its “chunks” (pedaços), as defined by José Guilherme Magnani. Estudio antropológico y histórico de la canción “Pau de Arara”, un maxixe de Luiz Gonzaga y Guio de Moraes, de 1952. Ella es entendida como narrativa verbal y musical sobre la migración nordestina hacia el sur de Brasil. La letra de la canción describe la migración como viaje épico. Parto de este hecho para poner en evidencia que la miseria de los medios materiales del viajante es francamente reemplazada por la riqueza de sus substratos musicales y culturales. La noción de diáspora de João Pacheco de Oliveira y James Clifford es empleada para comprender el universo de migraciones nordestinas, particularmente hacia São Paulo. En esa ciudad el género musical y danzante forró se revela como un substrato musical y cultural del viajante y la casa del forró como el punto central de sus pedaços, en el sentido que José Guilherme Magnani le atribuye al concepto. Estudo antropológico e histórico da canção “Pau de Arara”, maxixe de Luiz Gonzaga e Guio de Moraes, de 1952. Ela é tomada como uma narrativa verbal e musical sobre a migração nordestina para o sul do Brasil. A letra da canção estabelece a migração em tela como viagem épica. Parto daí para evidenciar que a miséria dos meios materiais à disposição do(a) viajante é francamente suplantada pela riqueza de seus substratos musicais e culturais em geral. A noção de diáspora com base em João Pacheco de Oliveira e James Clifford é acionada para compreender o universo de migrações nordestinas, tipicamente para São Paulo.
