Sumario:This paper attempts to discuss and overcome a concept widely used by historians to refer to cultural experiences of modernity in peripheral regions, the concept of national school. The study case is the group of nineteenth-century Russian composers known as moguchaya kuchka. The research highlights the incompatibility of that denomination with the historical experience. At the same time, it shows the foundation to overcome the concept, both for Russia and other historical experiences through the contributions that the perspectives of Transnational History offers.
