Provocatively defined by Borges in 1956, his revolutionary strategy would have consisted of something as simple and unusual as looking around. From that new look, paths, trees, roads, kiosks, cinemas, coffee shops, workers, small hours, brothels emerge; loudness and quietness, trapped from a language that exhibits its inevitable Hispanic origin and at the same time allows itself to be infiltrated productively by the speech of Río de la Plata. Con singular clarividencia, Baldomero Fernández Moreno concibe en 1917 un poemario cuyo comienzo y cuyo final son aparentes, tal como había postulado, para otro proyecto, Stéphane Mallarmé. La Ciudad de BFM ya estaba, en rigor, en su primer libro, Las iniciales del misal, de 1915, y presidirá desde el título el último, publicado en 1949, muy poco antes de su muerte. Definida provocativamente por Borges en 1956, su operación revolucionaria habría consistido en algo tan simple y tan insólito como mirar a su alrededor.
