This is the main objective of the Ph.D. dissertation, The Documental Information Systems –DIS - as instructional media: from information to knowledge, and some of its results are shared in this article as well. It is organized from a set of questions answered from the theoretical reflection as what an instructional strategy is and the methodology used for its design; the structure of the instructional strategy TRINCO designed from the methodological reflection is also explained, and final considerations arising after this research work are presented.  Presentar una estrategia didáctica fundamentada teórica y metodológicamente que permita a los profesores como usuarios de la información acercarse a los sistemas de información documental, para que sean ellos quienes enseñen a los estudiantes de la educación superior a utilizarlos a fin de que les faciliten resolver sus necesidades de información y transformar la información en conocimiento, es el objetivo central de la tesis doctoral denominada Los sistemas de información documental –SID- como medios didácticos: de la información al conocimiento, de la cual se socializan algunos de sus resultados en este artículo.
