If we take as a premise the relevance of Anísio Teixeira to the history of Brazilian education throughout the twentieth century, we can also consider that his readings, studies and appropriations remained to strengthen certain authors in the national context. One of these authors was, certainly, John Dewey. In this respect, we maintain that Teixeira was one of the interlocutors of Dewey's thought in Brazil - to which he named "the great and old master of philosophy, of which I became a disciple" (TEIXEIRA, 1955) - and, therefore, responsible for establishing Or to increase discussions on the basis of Dewey, especially in relation to the key concepts of the author. Methodologically we start from a bibliographical revision, procedurally erected from the following texts of Anísio Teixeira: "Bases of the logical theory of Dewey", published in 1955 in the Brazilian Journal of Pedagogical Studies, the text "Philosophy and education", published in the same magazine in 1959, and the text "Dewey and the philosophy of education", published in the CAPES Bulletin, also in 1959, texts in which Teixeira outlines the work of Dewey, operating with the following concepts: philosophy, education, knowledge, language, logic We can also infer that both authors attributed unique relevance to school and education in the organization of a modern and democratic society, since "no great modern philosopher was more explicit than Dewey in the necessity of this educational transformation, imposed by philosophy founded on New science of the physical world and new science, of the human and the social "(TEIXEIRA, 1959b).
