The goal is not only to have a current picture of the situation of academics at the university, but also to know the characteristics of the new job scenario, as well as to identify problems and opportunities. The analysis was carried out on the teaching population of the three institutions that grant the title of Professor of Librarianship in Argentina: Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, and Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. As a result, a set of characteristics shared by the teachers of the three universities was noted, which demonstrates the existence of a common profile. La presente investigación se desarrolló debido a la ausencia de publicaciones sobre el perfil del docente universitario de Bibliotecología y Ciencia de la Información en la Argentina. El objetivo buscado es no solo tener un panorama actual sobre la situación de los profesores en la universidad sino, además, conocer las características de los nuevos horizontes laborales, como así también identificar los problemas y las oportunidades. El análisis se llevó a cabo sobre la población docente de las tres instituciones que otorgan el título de Profesorado en Bibliotecología en Argentina: la Universidad de Buenos Aires, la Universidad Nacional de La Plata y la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.
