Seale does not agree with technocratic and ahistoric visions about information literacy so its origin is framed within the logic of “information society” and academic capitalism in the eighties in the EEUU. Seale’s work is important as it involves political and educational perspectives that are usually hidden within the academic and librarian field. El trabajo tiene como objetivo reflexionar sobre la práctica discursiva relativa a la alfabetización informacional a partir del comentario de un texto de M. Seale (2013): “La biblioteca neoliberal”. La autora propone una mirada histórica, interdisciplinar y crítica para abordar el estudio de las claves conceptuales, sociales y políticas que subyacen a la alfabetización informacional. Seale se distancia de las visiones tecnocráticas y ahistóricas para contextualizar la alfabetización informacional en la lógica de la “sociedad de la información” y el capitalismo académico de finales del siglo pasado en los Estados Unidos de América.
