This paper focuses on the Brazilian presence on the Centre international d’études pédagogiques/CIEP, located in Sèvres (France), founded on July 30, 1945, by Gustave Monod (1885-1968) and run by Madam Edmée Hatinguais (1893-1972), from 1945 to 1966. CIEP was born focusing on cooperation and internationalization of educations public policies, specifically on the qualification of teachers for different countries, through several directed visitations, qualification internships, French teacher courses. To create and maintain relations with foreign countries, in 1948 the Association des Amis de Sèvres/AAS is founded, willing to aid in the elaboration of pedagogical ideas and educational systems, organizing meetings between French and foreign teachers; broadcasting through a newsletter the activities organized by the Center; creating and maintaining friendship and support relationships among its members. Along with that initiative, the journal Les Amis de Sèvres/LAS was founded, originally by the name of Bulletin d’Information do Centre International d’études Pédagogiques (trimestral print), and also an academic and cultural relations service between France and foreign nations, which has its first print in 1949. Another action by CIEP focusing on internationalization was the creation of CIEP and association branches in different countries. The Les Amis de Sèvres magazine, on the sections Les Activités no CIEP, Séjours et Visites, Vie en Sèvres, Visiteurs, Chronique, La vie du centre de Sèvres, documents the presence of teachers and authorities on CIEP, coming from different countries, in each edition. This practice stops happening in 1967, when they start to only mention the country authorities visiting. This document body, the paper wishes to, from a quantitative and qualitative approach, analyze the Brazilian participation on CIEP and CIEP’s participation in Brazil, the circulation and renewal of educational methods, in Brazilian press. The tame frame ends in 1971, when the elementary and secondary school reformation is implemented in Brazil (by means of Bill n.5692/1971). The approach focuses on the international circulation of educational reforms, specifically in secondary school from the 1940s on, and the role of professional qualification trips in education, from the perspective of mediating intellectuals. Such “educational trips” where a strategy to enforce the colonizing/civilizing processes and circulation of CIEP proposals, in order to establish the internationalization spirit and the active methods of “experimental classes” in Brazilian secondary school. |
