We will also account for the structural aspects concerning de development of this activity, among which we could mention tourism, underemployment, the search for alternative income, and different governmental and NGO´s policies. Owing to the fact that in the past years, there have been limitations in cattle rearing and lack of employment in these communities, we will be able to relate the increasing importance of craft production with the sources of income already mentioned. Este trabajo se propone analizar la relación entre producción doméstica y mercado en comunidades indígenas del pueblo mapuche localizadas en el departamento de Huiliches (provincia de Neuquén). Nos focalizaremos, específicamente, en la producción y comercialización de artesanías, dada la creciente importancia que posee como medio de supervivencia para las familias mapuches.
