The present contribution tries to formally characterize such productions, evaluating their claims of legitimacy and impact among their more or less immediate recipients.  Desde la perspectiva de la clasificación tipológica de las fuentes pertenecientes al acervo tardoantiguo, el contraste entre las vidas y los catálogos juega un papel relevante para la consideración del discurso historiográfico cristiano. El caso de Cesáreo es entonces notorio, por tratarse de un actor socio-cultural fundamental para la conformación de las comunidades cristianas latinas y por haber sido, así, objeto de retratos diversamente escritos.
