Sumario:The first findings of an investigation that seeks to analyze Uruguayan cookbooks as a valid information source for the history of reading and books are presented. A discussion about the characteristics of these books and the possibilities that they constitute an information source for research in this field is proposed, analyzing what can be the contributions from the study of the cookbooks of a region or country to the history of reading. Based on the obtained results, a series of analysis categories that can be useful for similar studies are presented and justified, where the analysis units are documentary sources, contributing in this way to the construction of a new history of interdisciplinary reading, which includes the perspective of Information Science and Librarianship.
