It also shows the development of several research lines from two of her main contributions. The first, and more specific, deals with the discussion of the ethnic structure of the eastern border of Humahuaca and its relations, which is included within the problem of the eastern border of Tawantinsuyu. The other is related to her first contributions about the process of destructuration of the indigenous population of Tucumán under the regime of encomienda and the impact of the personal service, as a dominant tribute imposition on the indigenous population.  Este trabajo describe los aportes de Ana María Lorandi en los estudios de las poblaciones indígenas prehispánicas y coloniales de la Quebrada de Humahuaca, su frontera oriental y la Puna de Jujuy. Los mismos muestran el desarrollo de varias líneas investigativas a partir de dos contribuciones principales. La primera, de carácter más específico, en torno a la discusión de la estructuración étnica de la frontera oriental de Humahuaca y sus relaciones, que la autora había logrado incorporar como parte de la problemática de la frontera oriental del Tawantinsuyu.
