description The article relates to the perceptions of students from an elementary school about their study and housing environments, that is nearby a protected area in the city of Belem, state of Para, Brazil.  The approaching to the students was made in two moments: the first one through a workshop of social maps and the second one through a workshop of pinhole photography. In the last one, it involved building cameras and make an photography essay in order to try to answer the collected data to answer the research questions. Therefore, the pictures revealed the human and non-human dimensions of their places, showing, above all, the ambivalence of that dimensions portrayed in backyards, pets, certificate and bike of everyday use. In addition to that products, the building and using of the pinhole camera that, in turn, was constituted in a training of estrangement and education of looking by that young students.

El estudio fue llevado a cabo en un sector perimetral a un área de protección ambiental de la región metropolitana de Belem (Pará,Brasil). La aproximación con los jóvenes fue realizada en dos ocasiones: la primera a través de un "taller de mapas"  y la segunda por medio de un taller de fotografía artesanal (pinhole). Al construir la cámara e iniciar el ensayo fotográfico buscando responder a cuestiones previamente formuladas, las imágenes mostraron la dimensión humana y no humana de sus espacios, demostrando sobretodo la ambivalencia de estas dimensiones retratadas en el patio de la casa, el animal de compañía, el diploma de grado y la bicicleta de uso cotidiano. La construcción y operación de la cámara pinhole constituyó un ejercicio de extrañeza y educación visual de estos jóvenes individuos. Este articulo trata de la percepción que tienen los jóvenes en edad escolar acerca de su ambiente de estudio y vivienda. El estudio fue llevado a cabo en un sector perimetral a un área de protección ambiental de la región metropolitana de Belem (Pará,Brasil).
