description The partition of the Armenian Kingdom between the romans and the sasanians at the end of IV A.D. guaranteed to the government of the Shahanshah the administration of his oriental regions. To assure the control of such dominion, the Persian sovereign advanced with the administrative integration of that regions. The solution implemented was based in the appointment of a series of marzbans (military commanders) in charge of the defense and administration of the Persian Armenia. Those dignitaries always find themselves in a delicate situation. In a political level, thanks to the frontier reality of the territories under their control. To the treat of the roman power, added the recurrent demands of the local elites integrated by diverse Naxarar, tough’s defenders of the privileges of their strata so much as about his Christian faith. To that, added the pressures emanated from the court in Ctesiphon. Although such challenges, the marzbans where been capable of sustain the control of the region until the sinking of the dynastic authority after the end of the last romano-sassanid war (602-628) and the immediate muslin invasion. To try an approximation to the reasons of such stability, in relation to the capacity in the management of the territory by the royal functionaries, we will advance here with a study of the remains the practices of government, management and war of the sasanian marzbans present in historic work attributed to Sebeos. The object of such exercise is to collaborate to the comprehension of the motives whereby was possible to sustain the north occidental frontier of the sassanid kingdom in front of the roman challenge and the complex relations between the royal functionaries and the members of the local elites during the last centuries of Antiquity.

The object of such exercise is to collaborate to the comprehension of the motives whereby was possible to sustain the north occidental frontier of the sassanid kingdom in front of the roman challenge and the complex relations between the royal functionaries and the members of the local elites during the last centuries of Antiquity.
