With this purpose, based on a study in cases, I retrieve testimonies of (women) students of Engineering around the processes of identity construction that they transit during their university education, in order to reconstruct the expectations of academic performance and future professional insertion that are assigned to them. The results reveal those situations that are invisible, or even naturalized, in the daily life of the educational trajectory in which rely ideas about how the subjects formed in these areas are and should be. Finally, I outline some of the main challenges in this field, giving a critical and at the same time a propositional look at educational initiatives and policies aimed at reducing the gap and achieving gender equity. El artículo presenta resultados preliminares de una investigación en curso, centrada en el análisis de las significaciones de género que se entraman en los espacios educativos de nivel superior en carreras vinculadas a las ciencias exactas y las disciplinas tecnológicas. Con este propósito, a partir de un estudio en casos, recupero testimonios de estudiantes (mujeres) de ingeniería en torno a los procesos de construcción identitaria que ellas transitan durante su formación universitaria, a fin de reconstruir las expectativas de desempeño académico y futura inserción profesional que se les asignan. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto aquellas situaciones invisibilizadas, e incluso naturalizadas, en el cotidiano de la trayectoria educativa en las que subyacen ideas acerca de cómo son y deben ser las y los sujetos que se forman en estos ámbitos.
