However, one of the most interesting positions that addresses this issue is that of cognitive semantics (Lakoff 1987, Langacker 1991), since it proposes that the different meanings of a word are not given in a random way, but that there is a conceptual basis from which they start by losing and gaining semantic traits through the mechanisms of metaphor and metonymy. This work presents an analysis of the verb PASAR, one of the movement verbs in Spanish with the greatest number of meanings (Morero 2007). Based on the principles of cognitive semantics, the analysis shows that the broad polysemy of the verb PASAR does not occur in a random way, but rather responds to a categorial systematicity. Uno de los problemas fundamentales de la semántica es la polisemia, tema que ha sido abordado ya desde diferentes posturas (Bolinger 1965, Kempson 1977, Pottier 1977). Sin embargo, una de las posturas más interesantes que abordan esta problemática es la de la semántica cognitiva (Lakoff 1987, Langacker 1991), ya que propone que los diferentes significados de una palabra no se toman de manera azarosa, sino que existe una base conceptual de la que parten, mediante la pérdida y ganancia de rasgos semánticos, a partir de los mecanismos de metáfora y metonimia. El presente trabajo presenta el análisis de uno de los verbos de movimiento en español con mayor cantidad de significados (Morero 2007), el verbo PASAR, a partir de los postulados de la semántica cognitiva con la finalidad de mostrar que su amplia polisemia no se produce de manera azarosa sino que responde a una sistematicidad categorial. Um dos problemas fundamentais da semântica é a polissemia, questão que já foi abordada a partir de diferentes posições (Bolinger 1965, Kempson 1977, Pottier 1977); porém, uma das posições mais interessantes que tratam desse problema é a da semântica cognitiva (Lakoff 1987), que propõe que os diferentes significados de uma palavra não são tomados ao acaso, mas que existe uma base conceitual da qual partem mediante a perda e ganho de traços semânticos a partir dos mecanismos de metáfora e metonímia.
